Looking ahead to next week, third grade continues with MCAS testing on Monday, May 1st. We have MCAS make up testing all next week. The annual fifth grade “Gym Show” is being performed on Tuesday evening, May 2nd at 6:30 PM. On Thursday, May 4th we have a staff meeting at 3:30, the West School Council at 6:00 and PTA meeting at 7:00.
Another busy week has come and gone at West, as we return from vacation and welcome the month of May! Mrs. Marchesiani was here this week for math coaching, as was Mrs. Lacroix-White for literacy coaching. Our third and fourth graders conquered the MCAS English Language Arts test this week – great job boys and girls! BOKs continued this week – thank you to our teacher and parent volunteers. Our 5th Grade Farewell Committee met on Monday evening – thank you to our West parents for their help and support with this! Coding Club met after school on Tuesday. The Garden Club met with fifth graders on Thursday – what an informative, helpful presentation we received, learning about plants and trees and how to care for them. The West teachers met this week for their Professional Learning Communities. Our French Club and Cribbage Club will meet on Friday morning. Fifth grade will take their field trip on Friday to the Heritage Museum, and we look forward to celebrating our April Westie Awards on Friday afternoon. Thank you again, so much, to our teachers and parent volunteers for all of their help with “Nature’s Classroom" on Thursday, April 13th! Our outdoor classroom looks AMAZING, and it could not have been done without the hard work of our students, staff members and parent volunteers! Special thanks to our PTA for their generous contributions to this project!

Another busy week has come and gone at West! Fifth grade had MCAS English Language Arts testing this week – great job boys and girls and thank you to our fifth grade teachers! Our teachers met this week for their Professional Learning Community meetings. Mrs. Marchesiani and Mrs. Lacroix-White were here this week for math and literacy coaching. BOKs continued this week on Wednesday and Thursday mornings – thank you to our teacher and parent volunteers! Today we held our “Nature’s Classroom Community Workday” at West. Special thanks to all of our parent volunteers and helpers, as well as Mr. Trepanier for all of his hard work. Thank you to Mr. Ozelius for lending his truck to retrieve soil and plants, and thank you to Ms. Keegan for her assistance in organizing the day for us! We also wish to thank Lowe’s Home Improvement for their generous financial support of the project, and our continued partnership with our PTA. Our “Nature’s Classroom” would not be what it is without their generosity. Thank you one and all!
Looking ahead we have no school tomorrow on Friday, April 14th in observation of Good Friday. We have April vacation from Monday, April 17th – Friday, April 21st. Students return on Monday, April 24th. Fourth grade students will have MCAS ELA testing on Monday, April 24th, 25th and 26th. Third grade will have MCAS ELA testing on Thursday, April 27th, Friday April 28th and Monday, May 1st! Fifth Grade Farewell Committee is meeting at 7:00 PM on Monday, April 24th. Coding Club meets after school on Tuesday, April 25th. Fifth grade is traveling to the “Heritage Museum” on Tuesday, April 25th for a field trip. Fifth grade students and teachers are meeting with the Garden Club on Thursday, April 27th and planting a tree on Friday in observation of Arbor Day. Have a happy Easter and thank you for your continued support! April is already off to a busy start at West! Mrs. Lacroix-White and Mrs. Marchesiani were at West this week for literacy and math coaching, respectively. Mrs. Lacroix-White offered literacy professional development at West on Tuesday, for kindergarten and first grade teachers. Our Coding Club met after school on Tuesday, as did our West Student Council. BOKS continued on Wednesday and Thursday mornings. We had early dismissal on Wednesday, April 5th at 1:05 – teachers had professional development. Ms. Donovan and Ms. Keeley will attend the “Massachusetts Reading Association Conference” on Thursday. I am looking forward to having lunch with Ms. Reid’s second graders also on Thursday – what a treat for me! We have our April staff meeting on Thursday after school; West School Council will meet on Thursday at 6:00 PM and PTA will meet at 7:00 PM - feel free to join us if you can. Our French Club will Skype on Friday morning with Plymouth North High School! The West Cribbage Club will also meet on Friday morning. Dance Club will dance during recess on Friday afternoon, and we have an assembly for grades K-5 on Friday afternoon at 2:00, “Rain Forest Animals.” We would like to thank our PTA for funding and organizing this assembly for us!
Looking ahead , we have fifth grade English Language Arts MCAS testing Monday-Thursday, April 10th – 13th. Students should get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and drink plenty of water! Our West teachers will be having their Professional Learning Community meetings next week. On Thursday, students can wear blue, in support of Autism Day! Also on Thursday is our “Nature’s Classroom Community Workday” at West! Feel free to join us that day as we spruce up our outdoor classroom, with soil, flowers, vegetables, mulch and stone. We have no school on Friday, April 14th in observation of Good Friday. We have April vacation from Monday, April 17th – Friday, April 21st. Students return on Monday, April 24th. Fourth grade students will have MCAS ELA testing on Monday, April 24th, 25th and 26th. Third grade will have MCAS ELA testing on Thursday, April 27th, Friday April 28th and Monday, May 1st! Thank you for your continued support!
