I wish every West student, staff member and parent a very Happy Thanksgiving!
We had an incredible turn out for our "Tale of Despereaux" loop parade on Thursday, November 5th! Thank you so much to all of our West families who came out to support literacy and reading at West!
Speaking of literacy, if you want to stay up to date with the latest literacy news at West Elementary, please join Ms. Learning and Mrs. McBride's Facebook group, "West School Library." You will find information regarding all things literacy related to West Elementary, including events, book recommendations, and digital book rooms! To join, type "West School Literacy" in the search bar on your Facebook Page. Once you find it, you will see a photo of our blue Little Lending Library; click "join," and you're in!
We are also continuing with another West tradition, our Annual "Great Bed Time Story/Pajama Drive!" We'll be collecting pajamas and donations through December 10th. As donations are collected, we'll be releasing videos of stories read by staff members! Please visit our Pajama site to access the videos and learn more about how you can help families this holiday season. https://tinyurl.com/great-pj-drive.
Here is an update from Nurse Marisa in our Health Office:
In addition to the regularly scheduled mandated immunizations, there is a new state mandated flu vaccine requirement. Plymouth Public Schools hybrid and remote learners are required to provide proof of these immunizations. Your student should receive their flu vaccine and provide proof from their physician by January 1, 2021. Please reach out to your school nurse if you have a medical or religious exemption for the required vaccinations as we will need a letter on file. You may send any documentation of your child’s immunization via email to [email protected] or via fax at 774-283-9748, or send in a paper copy with your student. Please call our office at 508-830-4357, with any questions.
West Elementary is participating in a Food/Gently Used Coat Collection Drive from Monday November 16th - Friday December 18th. We are collecting unexpired, non-perishable foods. Additionally we are collecting clean, gently used children's coats during this time if you wish to donate.
West Elementary is also participating in our seventh annual "Turkey Trot." The goal is to collect canned goods for people who are less fortunate. Each student will be participating in the Turkey Trot during physical education class with Mr. Powers. Students jog/walk for 20 minutes around the soccer fields, with the goal of donating one canned good for each lap completed. The Turkey Trot will be taking place from November 17th - November 20th during physical education. Students will be asked to wear comfortable clothes that they can run in, as well as coats/jackets/gloves/hats to keep them warm! Thank you for supporting this worthwhile cause at West!
