As September comes to a close, I want to (once again) thank our West staff members, parents and students for all of their patience and hard work during this enormous time of change! Overall, I'm very pleased and excited about our school days and how things have come together, despite all of the changes we've made. Things are not "perfect" - but we are moving in the right direction! Many, many thanks!
I have been busy this week, visiting classrooms and observing our West staff members "in action." Great job West teachers! I've also been meeting with members of our West staff to discuss their professional goals for the 2020-2021 school year. Our parent drop off in the morning (and parent pick up in the gym in the afternoon) appears to be running smoother and quicker. Again, thank you for your patience and cooperation.
Looking ahead to next week (October 5th - 9th), our Kindergarten, First, and Second grade teachers have their Professional Learning Community meetings throughout the week. We will be having a West School staff meeting on Tuesday, October 6th at 3:40. We will also be having a West School Council meeting on Tuesday, October 6th at 6:00 PM and the West PTA will be meeting at 7:00 PM. All of these meetings will be via ZOOM call. Thank you so much to all of the West parents and families who have donated cases of drinking water for our students! We sincerely appreciate your kindness and generosity!
Our Virtual West School Open House (grades 1-5) will be on Wednesday evening, October 7th, from 6:30 - 7:30 PM! You will be receiving an e-mail from Mrs. Crociati (our secretary) on Tuesday, October 6th which will include your teacher's "Google Meet" link to join the Open House on Wednesday evening, October 7th.
The Open House format will be:
1. 6:30 - 6:45: Dial into Google Meet! Your child's teacher will be providing a fifteen minute, live, informative presentation. The question and answer period will be from 6:45 - 7:00.
2. At 7:00, our specialist teachers will be providing their Open House presentations together (Mr. Powers, Mrs. Belocas, Mrs. Boucher, Mrs. Kershaw and Mrs. Runnals). This will also be followed by a fifteen minute question and answer period from 7:15 - 7:30.
3. After the conclusion of our Open House, these presentations will be saved and shared with parents through the Seesaw (K-2) or Google Classroom (3-5) platforms. You will have this to refer to in the future (if you have multiple children attending West). All open house content will be provided and shared!
We have no school on Monday, October 12th in observation of Columbus Day.
Thank you very much for everything! Enjoy October!
