It feels like July this week, as the month of September comes to a close! Fourth and fifth grade students celebrated the Massachusetts Children’s Book Awards on Wednesday – thank you to Mrs. Shannon in our IMC for her hard work in organizing this for our West students! I enjoyed reading to Mrs. Cormier’s class on Wednesday morning – we shared a tale of animals reading in a zoo and how crazy events unfolded with the plot! We also had a successful fire drill on Wednesday morning – thank you to all of our West students for being safe and responsible during our fire drill, and thank you to our West teachers for remembering to use our red and green cards for student safety! Our October “West Way” newsletter is going home with students tomorrow (Friday, September 29th) and will be posted electronically on the West Elementary web page. Thank you to all article contributors! Please check page two for important October events and dates at West!
Looking ahead to next week, teachers will be having their Professional Learning Community meetings. We have a staff meeting on Tuesday, October 3rd after school. The West School Council will be meeting on Tuesday evening, October 3rd at 6:00 PM and PTA will be meeting at 7:00 PM – all are welcome to join! On Thursday evening, October 5th, our PTA is sponsoring a fundraiser at “Sky Zone” at the Kingston Collection Mall from 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Come on by and jump on a trampoline to raise money for West Elementary! We have no school on Friday, October 6th (teachers will be at Plymouth North High School for professional development all day) and we have no school on Monday, October 9th in observation of Columbus Day.
Enjoy your long weekend! Happy October!
