It is finally starting to feel like December, but we don’t let the cooler temperatures slow us down at West! Our teachers have been busy this week, meeting for their professional learning communities. Thank you to the West teachers! We had consultants visit our CARE program on Tuesday – thank you for hosting teachers and students. Our Math Night Committee met on Tuesday afternoon, to plan for our second annual "Math Game Night" at West. Mark your calendars for February 25th, 2016, from 6:00 – 7:15 PM! More information to follow on this -- we have some exciting math ideas and rewards for students next year! We all enjoyed our enrichment assembly on Wednesday morning, “Hero Art.” Thank you to our PTA for organizing and funding this wonderful assembly for us all at West! We had early dismissal on Wednesday afternoon for parent-teacher conferences. Thank you to our West teachers and to our parents for supporting their child’s education at West! Mrs. Colby (Technology Director for Plymouth Public Schools) had technology training on Wednesday afternoon with the Technology Integration Specialists from across the school district. I am looking forward to a wonderful lunch with Mrs. Routhier’s students on late Thursday morning – thank you for hosting, boys and girls! Ms. Keegan will host a “Celebration of Learning” on Thursday afternoon, December 17th, at 2:10 and Mrs. Routhier will host a “Celebration of Learning” on Friday afternoon, December 18th, at 2:00. Mrs. Lacroix-White will have literacy professional development with fourth and fifth grade teachers on Friday, December 18th. Phew – what a week indeed!

The welcomed warm weather continues at West! Another busy week behind us: We had early dismissal on Wednesday for parent teacher conferences. Thank you for all those parents who came to meet with our classroom teachers. We celebrated two annual events at West Elementary this week: our Band and Orchestra Concert on Wednesday evening, December 9th at 6:30 PM, and tonight (Thursday, December 10th) we will host our “Great PJ Bedtime Story” at 6:30! Last night, our band and orchestra members performed brilliantly (thank you so much to Mrs. Kos for her hard work), and we all look forward to having stories read to us in our pajamas on later tonight! Mr. Young's class and Mrs. Correia's third grade class traveled to the PCIS Planetarium on Thursday - what an exciting adventure! On Friday morning, we will host teachers from an elementary school in Halifax, and Mrs. Lacroix-White will conduct literacy professional development with kindergarten and third grade teachers at West!
Looking ahead to next week: on Wednesday December 16th, we have an enrichment assembly in the morning. Thank you to our PTA for bringing "Hero Art" to West! We also have early dismissal that day at 1:05 for parent-teacher conferences. Mrs. LaCroix-White is having literacy training on Friday, December 18th for fourth and fifth grade teachers at West. Thank you - we hope to see you soon at West! When will the snow fall and stay with us? After last winter, I'm planning to enjoy these warmer temperatures and sunny skies while we have them at West! Our teachers have been working hard this week at their Professional Learning Community meetings. Thank you very much to our West teachers! Our PTA sponsored a “Paint Night” fundraiser on Tuesday evening – thank you to our PTA and to our budding West artists for participating and supporting this fundraiser! Mrs. Sullivan and Mrs. Lucas hosted an Open House for parents and families on Wednesday morning. Thank you to all of our Life Skills families who came to join us. I enjoyed having lunch with Mr. Ozelius’ class today – thank you for hosting boys and girls! We have our monthly West staff meeting today after school, as well as our School Council meeting at 6:00 PM and PTA meeting at 7:00 PM. Report cards go home with students on Friday, December 4th for the completion of our first term.
Looking ahead, we have early release at 1:05 on Wednesday, December 9th and again on Wednesday, December 16th for parent teacher conferences. We have no AM, PM, or full day Kindergarten sessions on the 9th or the 16th. We look forward to two evening events: our annual West Elementary Band Concert on Wednesday, December 9th at 6:30 PM, and on Thursday, December 10th we have our “Great PJ Bedtime Story” at West Elementary at 6:30 PM. We look forward to seeing West students, staff and parents at these fun filled events! |
