It is hard to believe that September has come and gone so quickly! We welcome October! The days and weeks are flying by! We had Life Touch Picture Day on Monday, September 27th! Everyone looked camera ready! I had a great time reading to Ms. Keegan's second graders on Tuesday, September 28th! We had a great time learning all about the ocean and the environment! We had an AWESOME time kicking off our "One School, One Book" reading campaign on Wednesday morning, September 29th! We are all reading "The Wild Robot" by author Peter Brown, a New York Times Best Selling Author! This book is all about Roz the Robot surviving on a deserted island! We are all excited to read this book together as an entire school! Thank you to our PTA for purchasing the book for all of our students, and thank you to Mrs. McBride, Mrs. Kershaw, Mrs. Learning and the entire committee for their hard work in transforming West Elementary into a far away island, with Roz ready to greet us in the lobby! More communication to follow on this, and we are looking forward to hosting our "Wild Robot" evening parade this year again at West Elementary on Thursday, October 28th!
Looking ahead to next week (October 4th - 8th) our kindergarten, first and second grade teachers have Professional Learning Community meetings throughout the week. Our third grade teachers are traveling to the Planetarium on Friday, October 8th at 10:00, and our Kindergarten students are getting a visit from the Plymouth Fire Department to learn about Fire Safety on Friday, October 8th!
We have NO SCHOOL on Monday, October 11th in observation of Columbus Day. Enjoy your long weekend!
We are also very excited to host the first annual "Children's Business Fair" at West Elementary on Thursday evening, October 21st, from 6:00 - 8:00. We have over 150 fifth graders from across Plymouth coming to sell their products! This is very exciting, and thank you to our fifth grade entrepreneurs and their parents!
We hope to see you soon at West, and enjoy this beautiful time of year in New England!
