What a great week we’ve had at West! I enjoyed reading to Mr. Ozelius’ class on Monday morning. We all enjoyed the humorous story of “Stuck.” Mrs. McBride and Mrs. Hamilton attended a literacy conference on Monday and Tuesday – thank you for representing West School! Our teachers have been working hard this week in their Professional Learning Community meetings – thank you to the West staff! Congratulations to Mrs. O’Brien’s class, Mrs. Fitzgerald’s class, Ms. Keeley’s class, Ms. Reid’s class, Mr. Ozelius’ class and Mrs. Cormier’s class for their box top participation! They were rewarded on Wednesday with a “Crazy Hat” day. On Wednesday we enjoyed our PTA sponsored all school assembly, “Everyone Has A Talent!” Thank you to our PTA for organizing and sponsoring this event! I enjoyed reading to Mrs. Fitzgerald’s class on Wednesday. We also had early dismissal on Wednesday afternoon – teachers attended professional development. I am looking forward to lunch with Ms. Reid’s second grade class on Thursday – thank you for hosting boys and girls! Thank you to all that supported our Frosty Village Holiday Craft Fair this past Friday night and Saturday! This event was a huge success - thank you for supporting our PTA and West Elementary School!

Another short (but busy) week at West! I enjoyed reading to Mrs. Hayne’s class on Monday afternoon. We all enjoyed the book, “Stuck.” Thank you to our service men and women, honoring them on Veteran’s Day on Wednesday. Thank you for fighting for our freedom and American democracy, and for the sacrifices you’ve made for all Americans. I am looking forward to having a wonderful luncheon with Ms. Donovan’s class this afternoon – thank you for hosting me Ms. Donovan! Please don’t miss the PTA sponsored “Frosty Village” Holiday Craft fair this weekend: Friday night at West Elementary from 6:00 – 9:00 PM and on Saturday from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Looking ahead to next week, we are excited to have an all school assembly on Wednesday morning, “Everyone Has a Talent!” Thank you to our PTA for organizing and sponsoring this enrichment program at West! We also have early dismissal on Wednesday afternoon, November 18th, at 1:05. West teachers will be attending professional development.
See you soon at West! If I didn’t know any better, I would say that it is SUMMER outside! What an incredible week we’ve had with this weather, with temperatures in the 70’s! How lucky we have been to enjoy this beautiful autumn. We need to enjoy it while we have it – snow and winter are right around the corner! I enjoyed reading to Mrs. Routhier’s class on Monday! What a treat – we all had a good laugh reading the book, “Stuck.” We also enjoyed this same book in Mrs. Dubois’ class on Wednesday! Reading really is fun – I enjoy reading with students, laughing about silly characters and plots! Our teachers have been working hard this week in their PLC meetings – thank you to our West teachers! We enjoyed author visit Ralph Fletcher on Tuesday – thank you for our literacy department for organizing this visit for our fourth and fifth graders. Our Consulting Teachers of Literacy met on Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Marchesiani (our elementary math coach) joined us on Wednesday afternoon for math professional development with our third grade teachers. We had photo retakes with Life Touch Studios on Wednesday. I am looking forward to having lunch with Mr. Young’s third graders this afternoon - thank you for hosting me Mr. Young! Later today we will be having our October staff meeting (3:35 PM), School Council meeting (6:00 PM) , and PTA meeting at 7:00 PM. Please join us if you are able! It was a productive week of learning at West!
Thank you to all the parents and supporters of West School who came out last week for our "Restaurant Night" at Wendy's! Thank you for supporting West and thank you to our PTA for organizing this fundraiser! Also thank you to our PTA for organizing and sponsoring our enrichment assembly last week, "Robotics!" This engaging and dynamic assembly was enjoyed by staff and students alike. Looking ahead to next week, we have no school on Wednesday November 11th (thank you to our veterans and service men and women)! We also have our PTA sponsored "Craft Fair" kicking off on Friday evening November 13th (from 6:00 - 9:00 PM), continuing on Saturday November 14th.
